Here is a robotic arm that allows musicians to play their favorite instrument with an additional arm. Georgia Institute of Technology researchers have built a wearable 2-foot long smart robot that can be attached to a musicians’ shoulder and respond to gestures and the music it hears.
The robotic arm knows what to play and how to improvise based on beat and rhythm. It has accelerometers to sense the distance and proximity. The next step is to link the arm’s movements to brain activity. Are wearable robots the future? We will have to wait a few years to find out.
