Pebble Ceases All Hardware Operations

There have been many rumors about Pebble in the media in the past couple of days. We now know that the company has stopped all hardware operations. As the company announced on Kickstarter:

We are no longer manufacturing, promoting, or selling any new products. Active Pebble models in the wild will continue to work.

Much of the team will join Fitbit to develop future products for that company. Those of you who ordered new Pebble devices but didn’t receive your rewards will get a refund.

Pebble Time 2, Pebble Core, and Pebble Time Round Kickstarter Editions will not go into final production. Successfully-received Pebble 2 rewards are the only item not eligible for a Kickstarter pledge refund.

If you own one of these watches, it will continue to work normally until it doesn’t. One-to-one support will also stop. Those of you who were keeping up with the news probably realized it wasn’t the best idea to order a Pebble watch recently. It’s sad to see Pebble go but how it affects other players in this industry remains to be seen.
