CableRobot Virtual Reality Cage w/ Programmable Trajectories

cable-motion

Meet the MPI Cable Simulator: a virtual reality cage designed to provide users with better motion simulation. This is a cable-driven parallel robot that moves humans around and is controlled by 8 steel cables attached to winches. As the below video shows, such a system can be used for driving/flight simulation.

The simulator has programmable trajectories in 6 dimensions. The high power winch system provides high acceleration up to 1.5g. Fraunhofer IPA’s channel has more information about this virtual reality cage.
