Microsoft Planning To Build a Smartwatch?

Microsoft is already trying too hard to catch up in the tablet PC market. Maybe it should focus more on building a smartwatch of its own? While the idea of a Windows-based smartwatch seems too far-fetched now, it does seem that Microsoft is planning to get more active in the wearables market. A recent patent found by Patent Bolt shows Microsoft’s plan for a smartwatch and dock. The watch will have built-in apps for heart-rate monitoring, calorie tracking, and more. The brain of the watch can be popped out and inserted in fitness equipment to gather stats.

It remains to be seen whether Microsoft will ever release a smartwatch like this. But the idea remains quite interesting. You can find out more about the patent on Patent Bolt.
