Intel Has Basis Science?

carbon

We reported a few days ago that Basis Science had made itself available for sale. It seems there is already a buyer, and that is none other than Intel. TechCrunch is reporting that Basis has gone to Intel for $100-150M. Basis makes wristwatch health trackers and had 7% of the market just recently. The acquisition itself is very interesting. Intel is probably going to use the Basis team and know-how to come up with its own designs.

Wearable computing is the future, and this acquisition enables Intel to catch up to its rivals. Basis was apparently trying to sell to Google but Intel’s price was better.
