Google Glass Parts Cost $80?

Not to say that Google is making a ton of money by selling Google Glass for $1500, but it does not spend a whole lot on the parts. At least, that is what a report by TechInsights is suggesting. Inside Glass, you find the following:

  • Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 applications processor: $13.96
  • Camera: $5.66
  • Display: $3
  • NAND memory: $8.18
  • Battery: $1.14
  • SD Ram: $4.68
  • other parts

This is not taking into account costs of research and development, design, ads, and branding. The good news is that Google should be able to offer these glasses for much cheaper in the future.
