Tim Cook hinted at that being the case during his presentation of Apple Watch, but he has now confirmed it in an interview with Bloomberg:
I love operating my Apple TV from the watch … I don’t have to worry anymore about the remote falling through the cushions of the sofa.
Apple has not revealed everything the watch will be capable of doing. We already know that Apple is planning to update Apple TV units. So by the time the Apple Watch hits the market, we are going to know more about how the device will work with other Apple devices to make life easier for their users. Let’s not forget that Apple is getting serious about home automation with HomeKit. So it would not surprise us if the Apple Watch turns into a smart home controller in the future.
