JINS Meme Smartglasses Detect Drowsiness

Meet JINS Meme: a pair of smart glasses with Electro Oculogy Sensing Technology. It tracks eye movements to gather data on you. You can use it to track when you are too fatigued. It can also keep you safe on the road by detecting drowsiness. Like many other wearable devices, the JINS MEME can capture the slightest head movements with its hexaxial (acceleration and angular velocity) sensor. The wearer can use the companion app to track steps and activity.

Here is a summary of how this device works:

joint industry-university technology development effort has succeeded in developing with the JINS MEME the world’s first 3point Electro Oculogy Sensor (patent pending) that can also be used for eyewear. The product takes advantage of the unique characteristics of eyewear and achieves the real time measurement of shifts in line of sight in eight direction and blinking, from EOG detected from pads at the nose and between the eyebrows.

This is not the only device that can detect when you are too tired. Even some GLASS developers tried to implement this feature for Google GLASS. We can’t wait to test this eyewear when it is made available though.
