Everybody is excited about Microsoft HoloLens. The device is not going to be able to consumers for a while. But Microsoft is already courting developers. In fact, it is accepting applications for HoloLens Development kits, but each will cost $3000. The developer version should be available some time in the first quarter of 2016, but details are quite sketchy at this point.
As multiple sources have reported, these dev HoloLens units will be untethered, so they can be used without physical cords. If you are serious about mixed reality development, you may want to start preparing now.
