Google Working on Smart Contact Lenses?

You know it’s coming… I am talking about smart contact lenses. It is not as if Google has not shown any interest in this area. But too many folks are too mesmerized by Google Glass to realize Google has huge plans for its wearables. A Google application to the USPTO for multi-sensor contact lenses describes a method for input augmentation for wearable devices. Sensors embedded into a contact lens could detect blinks accurately.

Such a smart contact lens will have various sensors, including light, pressure, and temperature sensors. So why would one want to use such a solution? A wearer can send commands to smartphones and other smart devices with the blink of an eye. Patent Bolt has the full story and all the details.
