Here is a flexible wearable sensor that can measure a person’s blood alcohol level from sweat and transmit the data to a laptop or smartphone wirelessly. Engineers at the University of California San Diego developed this wearable device for continuous, real-time monitoring of blood alcohol content.
The device attaches to the skin like a temporary tattoo and induces sweat. It has a portable flexible electronic circuit board that communicates with smart devices via Bluetooth. This sensor can monitor alcohol level in 15 minutes. The next step is to develop “a device that could continuously monitor alcohol levels for 24 hours.”
