Samsung’s Brainwave-Reading Wearable Detects Strokes

Samsung is behind many interesting devices. It already has a bunch of interesting wearable devices for you to try. Its brainwave-reading wearable device, called the Early Detection Sensor & Algorithm Package, can warn you about impending strokes. The device monitors brainwaves to detect early signs of a stroke and alert you on your smartphone or tablet.

EDSAP’s sensors collect and wirelessly transmit data to a mobile app, which uses an algorithm to analyze them and determine the likelihood of a stroke.

The ability to precisely measure brainwaves and provide early warning for an imminent illness using a wearable device is a highly meaningful development … At Samsung Medical Center, we believe that EDSAP’s utility can be expanded and applied to other neurological health issues, such as depression. There are certainly a number of steps that remain for EDSAP, including full clinical trials.
