Smart Belt Automatically Measures Your Waist Size

Losing weight and keeping it off can be challenging. You need to measure your waist and other parts of body to make sure you are on the right track with your diet and exercise program. Students from National Institute of Technology Akashi College, Kagawa University and Hokkaido University have developed a belt that measures waist size and sends the data to a smartphone.

The belt has a sensor that calculates the size of a person’s waist by measuring how much the belt has been inserted through the buckle. The above video shows how it works.
